Fungi are an exceptionally diverse group of organisms that includes mushrooms and molds, the yeasts used in baking and fermentation, the source of penicillin and other pharmaceuticals, and many disease-causing pathogens in plants, animals, and humans. 

Exploring Fungi: Culture, History, and Diversity of a Mysterious Kingdom includes books, photographs, stories, and objects that celebrate the fascinating history and diversity of fungi, with a special focus on Ohio State’s contributions to mycology.

In the psychedelic revolution we are currently undergoing, most research is concerned with the effects these substances have on human health and consciousness. Yet psychedelic substances originated in living plants, animals, and fungi that have their own "interests" for producing them that probably does not involve the mental health of people. Here Dr. Slot will address where psychedelic mushrooms came from and explore some of the hypotheses about the role of psychedelic substances in their mysterious lives.
